Help! I recently initialized a new BCM 50 with a temp password and misplaced the password. Is there a way to reset the BCM to default and start over?

Dasheen is correct they only way is to level 2 reset it to factory default then you can get back in.

What is the procedure for a level 2 reset?

It involves pressing the reset button several times in a certain sequence and watching the LEDs. Details r in the manual.

Open a case at Nortel and they will give you access back to your bcm50.

To help Nortel in these rough days...
Seriously in case he misplaced his keycodes as well.

Here are instructions for the Level1 and Level2 resets.
Both remove all telephony programming, keycodes, IP addressing, etc.

The difference is that a L2 reset removes all patches (including upgrades) but L1 does not.

If you need access to the keycode and you somehow did not remember to save the keycode file AND if you also neglected to change the default Telset login, then try

F9*8 (and then log in)
Hit "OK" on Feature Codes
Hit "Next" a few times
Hit "OK" on "Entitlement Code"
Then the keycode will appear in three sets of 8 digits.
You can also see, while logged in, what features are enabled.

After resetting, you can then enter the keycode information manually.

A reset takes about 17 minutes and finishes with a reboot.
