I have a client that wants to have their voicemail forwarded to their email as a wav file. The users have various email clients and are heavy mac users so this has to be done server side using smtp and the Desktop Messaging Client is not possible to use. My nortel vendor said we just need Unified Messages which my client purchased and I installed the .lic file that my vendor sent me and it appears that the UM clients show up in Element Manager.

Well I am trying to configure the forward to email function and I cannot find any settings for it. My vendor sent me screen shots of the settings but I don't have those prompts anywhere in my system.

I suspect either I need more than just the .lic file to make this work or the UM can't do what i am wanting. Could someone please clarify for me as the client is extrememly frustrated at the possibility of wasting a couple thousand dollars for not being able to do what it was bought for??

The BCM50e has system software version 6.0.2.05.237.

You do need a license for each user, and you need to physically install the Unified Messenger program (this is available directly from the BCM via the web page and User Applications)onto each PC and sync it to the BCM's published IP address in order for it to work. All the instructions should be available from the BCM as well.
Good Luck!

well the vendor said you can do it without the messenger client which as said in the original post. And the screen shots he sent me of Call Pilot Manager having prompts for smtp server and forward to email boxes leads me to think it can be done. I have bought the licenses and installed the .lic file. what else needs to be done to get those fields in CP Manager?? Or do I need to get that vdktowav program out there??

How can I see if I have the patch and if not, how do I get it??

my software version is in the original post.

Software versions do not necessarily indicate installed patches. So I cannot tell you that.

What patches are installed ? Are you up to date ?

Patches are available from Avaya but you need SSO access.

I actually don't know what patches I have....how do I find out...i know, dumb question...i can do many of the admin functions but don't know where to see what patches are installed.

I am guessing you mean software update history and it is empty so I guess I need to patch up my system??

You will also need to load the My cp app for each user to complete the message forwarding programming.

my understanding of the research, for the bcm they just go to the mailbox manager for CP and can set it there according to the pdf the other user posted above.

The patch you are looking for is;

Software Update BCM050.R300.MESSAGE-FORWARDING-78 Description:
-------------------------------------------------

- Message Forwarding can send an e-mail message when new or urgent messages arrive in a subscribers voice mailbox. Message Forwarding can attach the G.711 linear WAV voice or fax message to the forwarded e-mail message so the user can play the voice message or display the fax message on the destination device. Users can forward messages to any e-mail address.

There must be as many Unified Messaging keycode seats as there are mailboxes with all Class of Services (COS) with Message Forwarding enabled. The number of mailboxes using a COS with Message Forwarding do not have to be the same mailboxes using CallPilot Unified Messaging.

Or the latest SU system patch.

So my vendor just gave me an FTP to access and it just has a bunch of files that look official and I trust my vendor but they didn't tell me which file I need and there are several so I'm a little confused. Can someone tell me which file I need for my software version I listed above??
