BCM 50 Software Version Question

My company has numerous BCM50's showing that the system software version is 1.0 or 2.0. But one of them shows the software version to be 6.0.2.05.237. My understanding is 3.0 is the latest. Can anyone explain this?

There are only 3 versions of the BCM 50...1.0, 2.0, and 3.0.
