Does anyone have a status update on BCM50 Rel 3.0 and 1200 series of phones?

No one seems to have the in stock and every vendor is trying to sell me a Rel 2.0 or 1.0 system.

SM-2007-0248,Rev 1 - Nov 26 2007
"Nortel is pleased to announce the general availability of Business Communications Manager Release 3.0 (BCM 3.0) and the new SMB-centric IP Phone 1200 Series in NA, Asia and CALA (EMEA to follow on January 7th 2008).

I realize that the BCM50 3.0 and 1200 series phones were "released" in the US, but their seems to be a mystery as to the true status of the equipment.

I placed an order for about $6,000US of Nortel equipment (BCM50R3.0 Bundle, 1220 and 1230 phones, extended 24/7 support contracts, key codes) and for some reason, even the vendor can't figure what is going on with the order.

His supplier canceled his order for the 1220s and 1230s without explanation -- only that they are not available. Emails have gone unanswered from Nortel.

As to the BCM50 main unit, it seems to be "status unknown". The order is open, but no one seems to know if it is back ordered or just slow at processing the order.

So far, I only have confirmed and received a wall mount bracket and and the RJ21 - RJ-45 adapter board.

Have anyone else had trouble sourcing the new equipment?

At this time of year orders can be tough. There are dates which orders must be processed by to receive the goods before the end of the year. These dates are posted in a bulletin annually.

I believe my sales rep telling me that there is a 4 week lead time right now on the new systems and phones, i dont know why though

I don't know if Nortel still does it, but when I worked there they used to close for 2 weeks at christmas/new year and that might be the delay.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

Many thanks to everyone! I think its just due to the time of year requiring a longer lead time.

Current update -- my vendor now has the main unit and will be shipped today. The phones and KEM are still "unknown". Hopefully I can get all of the pieces in before end of the year as I am tentatively planning on install for the first week of the year.

Note to self -- "Patience!
