BCM 50 Rel 2 backup and restore to BCM Rel 3?

Someone told me that you can backup a BCM Rel 2 and restore
it a BCM Rel 3? I thought you couldn't do this am I wrong?

I've always been told u can't restore using a backup from a different rls.

Look at the upgrade documentation. You can not do this
