Recently installed BCM 50 for customer that has 6 POTS lines used for voice. With the system upgrade, the customer decided that they wanted caller ID, so it was ordered on all six of the lines. The lines are in two separate hunt groups of 3 lines each. Customer called indicating that the CID was only coming through some of the time. I then went on site and found that 3 of the 6 lines were not showing caller ID. I called it in the CO and they dispatched a tech and verified that the caller ID is coming through on all six.....he tested before the switch.
As a result, another tech was dispatched to troubleshoot the BCM and the programming was correct. As a last result, tech power-cycled the system and the caller ID then began working on all lines again. Just got a call from customer indicating Caller ID is only coming in some of the time again. Sound like faulty hardware?
All six lines are programmed for Caller ID and I realize that the phone has to audibly ring for the CID to work correctly. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
