I have a BCM50 that was purchased used, from a company that went out of business. It has apparently been factory reset at some point and it looks as though there are no keycodes installed.

The system boots up fine and the handsets come alive, but even pressing the Intercom button returns a "Keycode Required" message. Would a factory reset completely remove all functionality? Or should the standard 4 CO lines and 12 DN's still be active?

Would there have been authorization codes for basic functionality when it was new?

Thanks.

A new BCM out of the box has no keycodes activated. There may be keycodes associated with that system but when you do a factory reset, it removes the license file. You would need to go to the KRS web site and do a "retrieve keycodes" for that system. If there were ever any keycodes generated and associated with that system that is how you would get the license file to apply to that system.

It's possible that there were never any keycodes generated for that system in which case you would need to purchase them and generate the license file. This can only be done by someone with access to the KRS like a reseller.

Hope that helps.

Ok.. that makes sense. If there were never any keycodes associated/purchased with this system, should the basic functionality still be intact? or is the license file still needed to make calls, intercom, etc.

Thanks

Yes that works fine. Here is my system ID

0021E1D58430

Thanks so much for your help.

It's a current system at release 3. All I can view is

Associated System Id : NNTMHD00HNBS
Current Version Number : 3.0

Current Configured Feature(s):
Int Analog Sets : 2 units
Int Analog Trunk : 4 units
IP Client seat : 2 units
VM seat : 12 units
Int Digital Sets : 12 units

I'm not allowed to view any keycodes, but you might have someone else who could help you out?.

If you had any backups from the system, then the keycode file is contained within the backup file.

Thanks so much firebird.. I'm checking to see if there is a dealer who can help me with the keycodes. I've copied this info to give to them also.

Would the backup files still be there after a factory reset?

Thanks,

No. the backup files would normally be saved to a USB stick if it was present or onto another computer etc.

Contact me off line via my link if you need any more help.
