BCM 50 Keeping Inactive phones alive

Hi,

Is there a way of keeping unplugged phones active on a BCM 50?

We have an office that is due to be refurbished so the staff will be forwarding their extension's to mobiles and different office locations so will need to keep the phones active when they are unplugged for building \painting. Just now when the phones are disconnected they go inactive and all incoming calls go NU.

IP and analogue phones can be sorted out OK, but wired digital phones will be a problem.

It might be possible to alter the target line for each DDI /DID number to call their alternative number.

What does NU mean?

Try using Routes and Dest codes instead.

Dest Code 96
Route 096 External# = Y-XXX-XXX-XXXX(Y is the dest code you normally dial out with) Absorb All Public Unknown
Set - do Feature 4 96

You could try the voice mail method
You will need to adjust COS and allow External Transfer or use a COS that allows it already.
In Admin allow Outdial type also.

User can say "you have reached my mailbox, to be transferred to my temp location press 7 or leave message after tone"
User setup ADMIN, 8, setup mobile number etc.

Be aware if you let too many have this feature you WILL tie up all your lines as 1 line/channel incoming conferences to 1 line/channel out with both methods.
You may want to have users just record an ALT greeting to reflect temp number if need.

If they have private lines/DIDs then try the Line redirect method.
