BCM 50 - IP Client / Extension Setup 1

Bit of a 'help me' shout here. I don't have the most advanced networking skills, but I'm really struggling to find any information on how to do this.

I am wanting to set up a 'branch office' at a different physical location to our main office, running off the same phone system. We are using the BCM 50 running an old version of the firmware. (1.4 if i remember rightly).

I'm sure it is as simple as connecting the two sites over a VPN and plugging the IP phones into etherenet extensions of a server in our branch office. The problem I can't overcome is how to link the BCM with the server at the branch office.

Any help would be appreciated!

all you need to do is connect the two locations with a VPN tunnel.
Connect the BCM 50 to the router in the office.

On the branch office, connect the IP phones to the router.
Setup the IP Phones to connect to the IP address of the BCM on the remote locations.
For example if the branch office LAN is 192.168.1.0 and the office where the BCM is located the ip is 192.168.2.0, and the BCM IP is 192.168.2.50, you will setup the IP Phones to connect to the IP address 192.168.2.50, port 7000.

That easy.

Make sure that you have enough IP Licenses on the BCM 50.

What do you mean by connecting the BCM to the server in the branch office? You just need VPN connection between the 2 routers of the 2 locations, nothing else.

Thanks for your replies. I think I was assuming it was more complicated than it is. I never thought it would be as easy as just connecting the phones to the bcm IP over a VPN. Thanks!
