We just purchased a BCM 50 and the vendor that we purchased the system from did not have the password. We did a level 2 reset and now that the reset is complete I connected to digital sets to the system. If i pick up the phone to dial an extension the phone beeps and says "keycode reqd". Do we need keycodes to use the 4 incoming lines and 12 digital stations that come with the system? Thanks for your help.

If you did a level 2 reset, then the license files were deleted and you just need to upload the file again. Not a problem if you have a copy. If you don't, you will need to have someone with access to KRS. Give them your sysid number (this can be found on the sticker on the bottom of the unit or in the keycode section in EM). Once they have that, they can just regenerate the file for you so you can just upload it.

Before I did the Level 2 reset I called an Avaya partner and they said the system wasn't properly registered so KRS doesn't have any key codes. Since we only needed incoming lines and a few stations we thought we could do a reset and gain access to the system. However, we didn't realize that you need to have keycodes for the basic functions of the system.

I don't even know what that means. All they need to do is go into the Customer Registration section of KRS and fill out the form using your system's ID number. KRS doesn't care where you say it's located.

If that Partner is not the distributor of record, then they can just fill in a form to request that it be changed so they can then regenerate whatever is registered against your sysid.

If there are no keycodes registered against your sysid, then you are toast. The only way you can get them reissued is with the proper paper trail.
