I've installed quite a few norstar systems in the past, but in the near future im being asked to install my first bcm 50. Can i do a start up with a telephone - similiar to a cics? or do I need a pc? I wont see the docs until the last minute so im hoping its similiar to a cics or mics to install - any heads up I should be looking for?

Thanx in advance

Since the BCM's are more gui friendly, it is easier to setup up the switch via laptop and network connection directly into the BCM. I am a switch guy, and have found the gui interface alot easier to understand for me at least that programming straight off of the phone.

The system programing can be done from a phone and is almost idenical to ics. This will get you up and running but the element manager config from pc is much greater.

Everyone says element mgr is greater but they do not tell you that it's SLOW as HELL! I prefer to program throughthe phone and do only IT/IP pgmn'g with the pc. To get into BCM50 from a 7316e press ftr **266344-737662 OK 266344 and your @ your terminal & sets. Good luck!!

DO a regular startup within the 1st 15minutes. ftr ** startup - 737662
