ok bcm 50 is sitting on my bench - no key codes yet - Do I only have access to DN 221 without the key codes? -- startup seems to have went well- Im also assuming my expansion unit is useless until I get the keycodes tomorrow

You can still get into the programming using the craft port on the front of the BCM50. Reading from left to right, you have the power plug, status LEDs and then the craft port.
All you have to do is plug your laptop into that port and go to
When you first hit the IP address (10.10.11.1) of the BCM 50 you will see:

Welcome to BCM 50

You will see a Link to Download Element Manager
Download Element Manager

When it asks you if you want to open the file or save it to your computer, click on Open.
Install Anywhere will open and begin to install the BCM Element Manager on your computer.
You will be able to save multiple site’s IP addresses and information and access them using the Element Manager program.

The Installation Wizard will open.
Follow the instructions….

It will put an icon on your desktop. Double click that icon and it will bring up the Element Navigation Panel.
On the right hand side you will see Network Elements. Click on the key and it will drop down the addresses of your BCM 50s.

Highlight an address and it will bring up the Task navigation panel where you will do your programming.

At this point you can go ahead and pre-program phones that you do not have keycodes for yet!!

Hope this helps
