I added a expander to an existing BCM50 last night- hooked up a 8x16MBM. loaded in the license enabled the module and in the enable process it just stayed in the enabling mode it never enabled the mod. So my extensions are still dead and I do not know what is wrong. The expander has power, the BCM50 acknowledges the license and I replaced the patchcord also between cabinets????

did you make sure you plugged the patch cord in the right port? I know it sounds stupid but i did it once by accident and spent an hour with it just saying enabling. Once i realized my clumsy mistake it came right up.

it is on the 3rd port on ther main unit next to the network connector and on the mbm it is on the back port closest to the wall

have you tried rebooting? check the dipswitch settings? if it is a used mbm that was in a 400 they could have been changed, that is another thing i have seen.

your BCM has to be rel2 and above in order to use 8X16 combo.
It wont work on a release 1.

Do the leds on the combo card go steady.
Did you enable the correct bus.
Bus 5 for 3rd port
Bus 7 for 4th port.

remember if you only have 1 exp port keycode applied then you must use bus 5.
If you have 2 exp port keycodes the you can use either Bus 5 or Bus 7 and connect Expansion module to correct port.

i WILL REVIEW AND ADVISE THANKS FOR ALL THE INFO...
