I have a client with a BCM50 with the expansion piece as well for a total of 6 outside lines and 12 phones. Suddenly it quit working. All the 7316e sets have message lights fluttering real fast and the lcd line indicators are blinking. Power cycled a few times to no avail. The two led icons on the BCM50 are more often amber than green but do go back and forth from time to time. Does anyone know what actually failed? The main or expansion, or what this typically indicates? Thanks!

Also, they are real basic, so if needed, I may pop in a CICS and Startalk Flash. What do they lose? They are key mode, delay answer, no IP stuff at all. I know I need 6.1 or higher to make button mapping match, but just wondering if they will be happy with the CICS?

sounds like the hard drive has gone pop,if you have a backup you could re-image a 40 or 80 gig SATA HDD, reload the patches reload the backup then the keycode file and you will back in business...

Sounds like the power supply or the hard drive. You could switch the expansion unit with the main system ps to see if that is the problem. The hard drive can be ordered from Avaya with all current images on it - you just have to select which one you want to load. As for what they'll lose with a CICS - the on board analog ports, number of digital ports may be less, number of mailboxes may be less with a flash, and they'll lose the GUI for programming.
