I have a customer complaining of crosstalk on her phones. It's intermittent but occurs quite often. Does not happen on internal calls - only external (incoming and outgoing). I did a system reboot because the LED on the front of the box was red. The system booted up fine and no more red LED. After the reboot she reported that her staff was no longer hearing conversations but they could hear other incoming calls ringing when on a call themselves. Anyone have any advice short of re-punching every station & line cable or replacing the BCM-50? BTW - This system has two Expansion Modules as well as Call Pilot 100 and uses POTS lines which the network tech checked the day before and said they were all clear. (heard that before!!! trouble's good leaving here!!!)

I can't see how you would be getting cross talk via the digital sets, but could understand if the problem was happening only on calls connected to analogue external lines as you have described. As stated above, you need to know more about your BCM 50 system with regards to hardware/software and current patching etc.

What you need to do in my opinion is to log onto the BCM 50 system and take a look at the alarms to see what has been going on. I would also disconnect one analogue line at a time and connect up a test phone to monitor for any cross talk / quality of the line etc.

Also use BCM monitor to check out the loading (end tab). This can be a useful tool to use.

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

Here's a method that works pretty good:
disconnect all the pots lines from the BCM at the demarc. Connect your buttset to line 1 and establish a phone call. Connect your tone generator to line 2, line 3, line 4, line 5, etc. Connect your buttset to line 2 and establish a phone call. Connect your tone generator to line 3, line 4, line 5, etc. Connect your buttset to line 3 and establish a phone call. Connect your toner to line 4, line 5, etc. Repeat this pattern until you've checked crosstalk between every line. If you hear your toner anytime during this process, the crosstalk is in the phone company's network.

Hey BCMFIFTYFAN that sounds like a good plan - I believe I'll do that as well as make sure all the patches are up to date.
thanks much my friend
