Hi all,

I have a BCM 50 that has a bad harddrive, I have a good backup and a new drive on the way. My question is do I need to regenerate keycodes for the 50 or will the backup reload the keycode file?

Thanks

no problem.... fit the HDD then load the latest patches, there are 2 parts to the SU patch you must load the software management patch first, then the SU patch, then the desktop in that order, then the backup, then load the keycode file.

good luck

Providing the replacement hard disk is the same version and that you have the keycodes, then it's OK to swap over the hard disk. Nortel would prefer you to swap over the whole unit as they make more money out of it!. Follow my instructions as they should be easy to follow.

All the best

Only need to regen if you're changing the main board. I've had these to reload the backup and afterward the IP address didn't respond and I wasn't able to see what was configured on the customer interface. If that happens, reply and I'll send you procedure for defaulting just the network tab so you can reprogram it.
