I need to program a bcm 50 3.0 via laptop instead of telset admin for the following 2 features (unless someone knows how to do these through telset admin):

"Enable External Initialization" to OFF
"Trivial Password check" to ON

I want to purchase a laptop anyhow but am considering the requirements for future programming of both bcm 50 3.0 and the new version 5.0. The stores are now offering Windows 7 but I heard that you really need XP. Can someone clarify what is the most suited O/S for programming BCM's. I use XP home edition at my office for test purposes.

I haven't used 7 but Vista works well if you have the Element Manager Vista patch from Nortel loaded. XP does work great with no issues - just use the newest version of EM you can get. I don't know of anyone getting a Mac to work unless they're dual-booting Windows or using VMware.
