Hi guys,

I am about to do an upgrade from BCM 50 2.0 to 5.0. Is there anything I should be careful of before doing it or is there any tips anyone can give me from someone that has had some experience doing it.

Thanks for your help in advance,
Dan

One more thing,

If I want to upgrade the manufacturing image to 5.0 after the initial upgrade, is there another disc that I need with the image on it or do I use the same upgrade disc that I used in the first place? The upgrade guide is a little confusing as to how to do it.

Dan

I just did one of these and you need to go to 3.0 first and then 5.0. Also you will have to upgrade the factory image to 3.0 before you can do the software to 5.0.

Otherwise it is fairly straightforward.

Good luck.

Don't know about that! If you are running a 1.0, you have to go to 2.0 or 3.0 first but there's no problem going from 2.0 directly to 5.0. I've done about 30 so far with no issues.

The 5.0 upgrade guide explains it all quite well.

I recall that the upgrade may ask you to do a reboot early on. Do NOT do the reboot. Refer to the upgrade guide.

Agreed there should be no problem going from a 50r2 to 50r5. The factory image may be downloaded from Apply the factory image once you are happy with the upgrade. If you do a software reset without it, it will take you back to 50r2. Do a software reset with it, and you'll remain on 50r5, with no configuration of patches of course.

Hope this helps
