BCM 450 version 6 change password

Hello, I just installed a new bcm450r6 and am attempting to change the password. No matter how difficult I make the new password (long strings of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers and non-numeric characters) I get the same invalid parameter prompt that states that my password doesn't meet the complexity rules. What the heck gives??

Replace it with the same default password then once in change the password complexity to a lower level an put the password you want.
