I have a customer that is looking to have an external light (visual indicator) for message waiting. The scenario is that there is a phone that has a voicemail box in a windowed room in the office that the user wants to see (using a strobe or something like that) when they have a message.

Any ideas. Will an analog port with a VM box, MWI work?

An analog strobe should work, also algo makes an IP MWI device which works in conjunction with an 1140 or maybe 2050 softphone, not sure which.

Setup another phone out of view for this. Make this phone the message waiting destination phone and set the aux ringer to ring when the VM box tries to contact it. That's the only time it would ring, and the ringing can drive a strobe light.

Or:

You could use Alternate Ext XXXX on mailbox´s windowed room
XXX is DN of user wants to see another phone

so, if message left in windowed room phone, the MWI on user phone turn ON

Saludos..
