BCM 450 Rls 6 Serious IP Phone Issue

Have a BCM 450 Rls 6.0 that was installed in August of 2011. Have 30 IP Seats on the system. This system was a replacement for a BCM 400 Rls 4.0 and all of the keycodes were migrated from the 400.

About 2 months ago I started to loose IP Phones. I would go to the remote site and the display on the I2004 set would just say connecting to server. I would then try and de-register the phone and re-register it again and still stayed stuck at connecting to server.

Right now I am down to about 13 IP Phones registered. 9 I2050 softphones & 4 I2004 Phones. 12 are at the same site as the system with 2 I2004 remote. I am no longer able to register any new IP Sets. Keep getting connecting to server error even when by-passing the network and connecting directly to the switch.

If I look at the BCM Monitor, I can see the extension I am trying to register but with no IP address.

Please Help

Does anyone have any suggestions? I could really use another opinion on this.

I'd look for the SOB who's messing with the network and kick their ass!

On a more serious note, you need to verify that those remote phones have the correct IP info in them. Is the S1 server address still set as the IP address of the BCM? If so, has anyone on the Data side messed with the programming of the ports on the switch they connect to? The router stuff? Are the remote phones set for full DHCP? If so, have the data guys changed the DHCP server to send out the correct info to the sets? Have you checked all the default gateway settings?

I know that you have tried connecting the phones directly to the BCM LAN port and have had no luck but have you actually checked the settings in the phones. There are several ways for the set to get the required info and you might want to start there.

Of course, you should ensure the system is fully patched and rebooted first.

The remote sides are static IP so DHCP does not play a part.

The system is patched with the lates SU system 8 patch. I wanted to test away from the network again. How would you recommend testing say a I2050 softphone and a I2004 at the same time with no connection to the network.

Also, would you recommend changing the min/max to match the license #? Right now it is set to 0 min & Max for Max. I have 30 licenses.

Check your telephony Resources--IP sets.
See how many have been allowed to register.( min 16 )
Change this to allow 30 or more.

Also check registration has been ticked to allow registration.

Last resort try a reboot.

It seems I have more than enough configured in telephony resources. Should I change the Min / Max in Application resources under IP Sets?

You need to look under Resources>Application Resources and find IP sets. Look under the column labelled Maximum. Normally you will see the word MAX in there. If there is anything else in there, change it to the number you need up to the number listed in the column labelled System Max. When you save it, it will likely tell you that you need to reboot for the changes to take effect.
