Hi Guys,

I have a client that is complaining that they have to reboot there bcm 450 r 6 every 4 days.

It started when they received a message on the IP Phones (1210 , 1120 and 1230 ) phones saying "try again later" when trying to make a call.

They called me and I recommended that they reboot the system. Every 4 days from there on they receive the same message on the phones and they reboot.
I was called to site on the 4th day waiting for the error and to my surprise the error came. I logged onto the maintenace port and found that the processor was 100%.
The alarms log said that if call processing does not work then restart the bcm , and if call processing is still working ignor.
The client is unable to work so we need to reboot.

I replaced the bcm 450 r 6 with a brand new out of the box system , loaded the latest patches , moved the keycodes however the client is still experiencing the same issue.

Does anyone have a clue what could be the cause - could it be software or a corrupt database.

Do you still have the original BCM system?. Could you default it back to day one and install the database without any patches or use the default database to try and pinpoint the problem. The fact that you have changed everything out would normally rule out most areas where faults could occur.

There isn't much else to change out bar the actual power lead and change the power source to a different supply outlet. That would then leave you with just a possible corrupted database or perhaps a bad patch.

I'm guessing that you have been looking at the BCM Monitor tool?.

Hi firebirdscrambler,

Ive been checking the monitor..yes. Ive already changes the power lead as well as the network fly lead. I got them to move the fly lead to a different port on a different switch. Still the problem persist. Maybe you can assist with the logs. Ive download the sensitive logs etc but it requires a password to open. Is this the same password as the "password of the day" that gets supplied by Avaya.

I was also thinking data base corruption. However the old system is on my desk with a few ip phones regitered and I have yet to experience the issue.

I was wondering could the clients unstable network cause the BCM to behave in this manner?

Im opening to any suggestions.

There was a thread the other day that gave you indication on how to pen up the BCM logs. What indications you you get in the BCM 50 alarm section?. I do wonder if it's a IP network problem bearing in mind the number of IP sets that have been configured.

What you could do if it's possible is to schedule a daily BCM reboot out of hours to try and prevent any problems during the working day.

It might also be wise to get the customers IT engineers to start running some logs to see if there is any congestion or bandwith issues during the day.

I also saw something the other day on a thread the memory was added to fix a problem.
