Hi There !

I noticed there is two LAN PORT, on my BCM400 3.7 this is 2 network adapter completly different that i can set 192.168.0.x on LAN1 and 10.10.10.x on LAN2.

But on the 450R6 i don't see any place to set settings for LAN2. I tought if i connect it it may appear but not at all !

The BCM 50 / 450 models only had a published LAN 1 port and the "LAN2" port was renamed as the OAM port. This is usually set and often left as default of

IP = 10.10.11.1
Subnet = 255.255.255.252

Yes true, i will correct my question.. i noticed there is 3 RJ45 NetworkJack OAM LAN1 LAN2.

So as i can understand OAM and LAN2 are same ?

Is it not OAM of the left and the other 2 are tied together meaning the same IP address (one adapter is a backup to the other):

OAM
IP: 10.10.11.1
Subnet: 255.255.255.0

LAN 1/2
IP: 192.168.2.2
Subnet: 255.255.254.0

If you move cord from L2 to L1 do you then see Lan 1 in EM? or vice versa?

The two ports are not useless. The LAN1 and LAN2 connectors are two switched ports on the same LAN. Let's say you have a laptop that you want to connect to the LAN to which the BCM450 is connected. With LAN1 connected to the local LAN, you can connect your laptop to LAN2 to access the BCM450 and/or the local network.

If i get it correctly, the port 2 is a hub of port 1, if you are in a server room with only one RJ45 cable and 2 server we can do a serial on the port 2 of the bcm right ?

Second question,

Can i use OAM port for my lan, and LAN1 port to connect to the WAN ?

Because i plant the BCM have it own WAN DMZ.

Thanks

In general, exposing any network device (that is not intended to be an edge device) to the Internet using DMZ is a very bad idea.

The OA&M port is supposed to be used just for OA&M. The OA&M subnet is for that reason limited to just 2 network nodes. Also, there is no routing between the OA&M subnet and the LAN subnet. A device connected to the OA&M port doesn't have access to the LAN (and to Internet if it's accessible via the LAN).
