I have BCM 450 Rls 1 in a customer,it location was working fine for couple of years. recently they had a power outage and the power supply of the BCM was damaged and we replaced it. After this we are not able to connect to the BCM from element manager, serial console, monitor or from browser, also validation from element manager fails. But we are able to ping the BCM from OAM and LAN ports. We also noticed that the status LED in never solid green, its always flashing green after long time it becomes red.

What could be the reason? How can i fix this? Is this a hard disk issue.

Do the phones flash or can you connect to the system via the Telset programming?. Can you tried using the default passwords in case the system has lost it's programming?. If the phones work, then is the time and date correct?.

All the best

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

We have soft phones and all of then failed to connect. All the password are defaultas it was never changed. I connected phones and I can hear dial tone. Any thoughts

Dear FBS,
Sorry for the delay, actually we had 2 BCM 450 and the dial tone we got was from the working BCM the person wrongly connected it to another BCM. So the BCM 450 we are talking about didnt give me any dial tone. The screen is blank but the RED light is flashing on the Nortel phone.

In short i can ping the BCM on OAM and LAN ports, but not accessible via serial, phone or element manager
The status LED keeps on flashing then turns red.
All passwords are default.

Any help will be appreciated....

Dear Phoneguy,
Thanks for the reply, i have a doubt if the hard disk is faulty why the system is asking for the login credentials when i enter the BCM ip on the browser or when i try to connect via ssh using putty?

You might want to check that replacement supply. Those symptoms on a release 1 are pretty much what you will get when the power supply fails. Wouldn't be the first time a replacement part was defective too.
