After migrating from the bcm 400 to the bcm 450 and upgrading the reporting software, the reporting server now requires a reboot frequently. No reports can be generated and the ipViewsoftboard client also shows no data during this time.

The customer server is running Server2003 sp2.
Reporter software version: 2.6.0.10-0

I have also installed the latest desktop and system updates. I un-installed RCC, downloaded the updated version from the BCM. New reporter version: 2.6.406.

It did not make any difference. Before installing the new BCM450, RCC had been working without problems for 2 years.

The reason for the move to the 450 is that the customer had grown to over 100 ip users.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

This was taken from Nortel bulletin 2008009105, Rev 3 released on Feb 5, 2009. It goes on about RCC issues at length but here's the background on it.

Background:
Since the introduction of Reporting for Contact Center (RCC) 2.5.x for the BCM50 R3, (or any BCM50 product upgraded
to software version 6.x) and RCC 2.6.x planned for the BCM450, the database engine has been changed to Microsoft
SQL Server Express 2005. RCC also uses the Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services component.
Using Microsoft SQL Server Express 2005 enables RCC to make database entries which are 'transactional'. This
increases the reliability and integrity of the statistical data stored, by allowing partially-completed but unsuccessful
database writes to be rolled backwards (this is done automatically).
In order for RCC and Microsoft SQL Server Express 2005 to be installed and to operate correctly specific pre-requisite
conditions apply to the RCC (web host) PC.
Customers have reported a high rate of installation failures of RCC on PCs that do not meet these pre-requisites. These
scenarios are described below.
Analysis:
Installation of RCC 2.5.455 (BCM50 R3) and RCC 2.6.404 (BCM450) is prone to installation failure on customer supplied
PCs, where:
a. A version of Microsoft SQL Server is already installed.
RCC will install with the default SQLEXPRESS named instance. This prevents the new instance and the existing SQL
server from co-residing on the same PC.
b. Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 is installed before IIS.
Some PCs are shipped with .Net Framework or are liable to Microsoft Updates which will install .Net Framework, possibly
before IIS is installed.
Because RCC is dependent on both the Microsoft .NET framework and Microsoft IIS these two components must be
installed and correctly registered with each other. If the .NET framework has been installed before IIS is installed, IIS fails
to register itself with .NET framework.

Business Communication Manager (BCM) 50 and 450 - RCC Installation Issues
and Prerequisites

For BCM450 R1, it is recommended to apply BCM450.R100.SU.Desktop-002 or later, which includes
BCM450.R100.RCC-12 (RCC 2.6.406). Later versions of desktop service update, or RCC patch will also include the
installation fixes. Then download and install RCC 2.6.406

If you decide to install it, please let us know if it fixes your issues.
