All my DSM 32's are up in the main, I have four ASM's/one DSM 32/one GATM4 in the expansion. Can't get them working. How are the slots numbered? After I configured in Element Manager I set the dip switches. (Is '0' down and '1' up? I tried both ways no success).

-Are you using the exact patch cord that came with the expansion cabinet?

-Are you licensed for the expansion cabinet?

You have to use a straight through patch cable but is has to be 16'4" due to timing issues.

if your configuration and dip switches are correct then check the cable length

License was copied and mailboxes were installed. I actually may have put in a shorter patch cord so I will verify that. Wow - exactly 16'4"? Do I also have to stand on one leg and spin three times when I install it? lol
Dip switches - is '0' down and '1' up?

U should be using the nortel ds256 cable not just any old patch cord. u'll have problems otherwise.

The slots are not numbered. Looking at the Dip Switches "on" is up and "off" is down.
You set your modules first in telephony ressources and it will tell you the dip switch setting for each module.

I understand on is up and off is down. But in Element manager-Resources-Telephony it has numeric values for the dip switches ex. 000101 I'm assuming '0' is down. is that true?

0 = on and 1=off, cuz all on on a 4.0 is bus "0" (2 in reality) 001 is bus 3, 010 is 4 and so forth.

Your example above is 5 in binary code, so bus 7 on a 4.0. Don't know for a 5.0 with expansion, only used main cabinet.

So if they start at one, you could go:

asm-1: 000001
asm-2: 001001
asm-3: 010001
asm-4: 011001

DSM32: 000010

GATM 4: 000011
