I got a BCM450 with bad clusters on disk. However I have access to the files on the drive if I remove the hard drive from the BCM and manage it with a ubuntu. I see a lot of partitions with files on it. Is it possible from there to copy only the config files from there to the new hard drive? I don't have any backup of the customer configuration and not able to do one cause the PBX don't boot up completely.

What is the main problem with you system ? If it wont boot up all the way it may be your power supply. We have had to replace several power supplies to get the units back up. We have found that if a power supply is off on one of the voltage sources by just a little they will not boot up all the way.

The power supply have been replace but the final state of the boot process give me a solid green power led and a solid red nortel light. I can't log in using Element manager nor putty in SSH. In SSH the login as: text come but as soon that I try to enter the password for nnadmin or every other common user and password it's telling me that it's not valid.

When you have the hard disk connected to your ubuntu system, mount the 7th partition and take a look at the file
alarms.systemlog
In this file, you should find a line that starts with the text <critical> that describes the reason for the red LED (and thus the failure of the system to come up completely). The file contains all the information that is normally presented in BEM under system alarms.

There is no chance you could find all the configuration files on the hard disk (because configuration of BCM is not stored in configuration files). [neutral] If a backup was done recently on the BCM, the backup file is on the hard disk and can be retrieved.

The backup is stored in a temp before element manager downloads it during a backup it is never deleted only overwritten i have recovered a few BCM50`s and a BCM450 doing this, when the drive is mounted in Ubuntu just do a file search for backup in each partition i can not remember the one its on but as ucxguy says only if a backup has been done

If its not broke tweak it..
