Hey guys,

I am replacing 3 BCM 1000's 2.5 fp1 mr1 with 3 BCM 450'S 5.0 and I have some questions about the 450's compatibility with Modules and expansion modules.
First off, we are keeping the old modules from the 1000 which consists of the old ctm trunk modules with the lines that plug into the front of the card with modular ends. Also, they have DSM 16's not the 16+, and the old 8 port ASM's before the GASM'S came out.
My question is if they are compatible and if so do I have to do any type of firmware upgrade with them before they become compatible? I would hate to find out at the time of cutover that these things won't work and have to revert back to their old system.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Dan

Ok someone can correct mre but here goes.

DSM+ will go into the main 450 cabinet or expansion cabinet
DSM mods will go into the expansion cab only of the 450

So if you are reusing yours then you will need to add an expansion cabinet to your 450's.

I already have expansion modules. What about the other modules, do they have to be placed in the exp cabinet too?

When I go into the 450 and go to resources/telephony resources, and click on Main MBM 1 and drop down the "Configured device", it gives a DSM 16/ DSM 16+ option which says to me that you can use a regular DSM 16 in that slot.
I am not doubting that you might have to put it in the expansion module but I just want to be 100% sure before I start programming this system.

The customer has:
Analog station Interfaces
Digital Station Interfaces
Caller ID Station Interfaces

Does any one know if these are compatible with the 450?

I just verified in one of my bcm450's and you're right, it looks like the older single density module are still compatible, either DSI16,DSI32 or analog modules.
