We are using a BCM 450 running latest software release.
We have a few assistants that need to monitor manager extensions and have setup an Asnwer DN for this on the assistant's phones (appear and ring)
However, have discovered that if the assistant phone is set to forward calls to voicemail (as we encourage staff to do when out or away from the office or on vacation), the manager phone does not ring and all calls are being pushed to the assistant's voicemail.
Is there any way to setup the ability for the manager line to appear and ring on the assistant phone and not have calls directed to voicemail even if the assistant phone is set to forward all calls to voicemail?
Appreciate any suggestions.

No.

If using DIDs, you might be able to override the external calls, by entering the Target Line # in the managers mbox under Express Messaging Line. But, I still have doubts. Best bet, don't have the secs. forward to Vmail after hours.

You don't say if you are using DIDs but I will assume you are. Create a Hunt Group called "Manager" and assign the manager's target line to it. Set the Hunt Group parameters as:
Mode: Broadcast
If Busy: Queue

Remove the Answer Key from the assistant's phone, make it a member of the "Manager" Hunt Group (Appear and Ring).

Now when the assistant forwards his phone to VM (or anywhere else), the Manager's calls won't be forwarded too.
