I have a customer with 6 analog DID circuts. They were supposed to order a PRI but they dropped the ball, and now they want to make the analog DID's work on a BCM 400 until the PRI arrives (which is 45 days from now). I said it may be possible with a FEM, a Norstar trunk module, and 2 DID cards. I know this is a bit crazy, but did anyone try this configuration and if so did it work?(I dont have a FEM to test with)

Yes, it works. I've done it a couple times. Make sure you've got enough DS-30 resources available in the BCM. Each fiber connector on the FEM uses one DS-30 loop. Once the lines are active, build target lines and you're good to go.

There will be an analog DID card coming out for the BCM when release 4.0 starts shipping - that'll be nice.

Thanks for the info biv...I cant beleiev that Nortel would spend time developing a analog DID card though...I would think that analog DID's were way obsolete now, I very rarely see them.

Agreed. I almost think they had to to compete in the market the BCM is in. Almost every other manufacturer can do analog DID without the conglomeration of parts that is required on the BCM. Probably won't sell a lot of it, but there's always that 10-15 phone system that want's DID's but can't justify a PRI/T1.
