I have a customer with a BCM 400 4.0 in North Carolina and a BCM 400 4.0 in Califirnia. We are trying to setup 4 digit dialing (extension to extension) between the two site using a 4 port VoIP gateway at both sites. The BCMs are both setup on the same network. We cannot get the calls to complete between the sites. All of the programming for the VoIP is exactly the same on both ends. We have narrowed the problem to be in California. We setup an Ethereal tracer on the CA network and tried to make test calls between the sites. We can see NC calls coming into CA but they never complete. If we try to call NC, we cannot even see them on the tracer meaning they are not leaving the BCM.
Any clues as to why this may be happening?

Check for firewalls blocking the traffic at udp port 28000-28255

which nic card is talking to the customer network?
under the network setting there is a drop down to select LAn1 or Lan 2.
broadcast or something like that.

also check and make sure gateway (next hop) info is in there

It's only dialtone-VZ

Thanks for your responses. It turned out to be the customer supplied us with the wrong default gateway for the one site. Once we fixed that, everything worked.
