Have a BCM 400 with digital phones still working with a dead HD going to replace with a 450, had customer go to each
Phone and get the port numbers, they have a DSM 32 slot 1 and a DSM 16 slot 2 the port numbers are 241-296 ?
And the 450 starts at 1001 -1016 second 16 are 2001-2016.
I want to try to match the ports so you just need to reconnect the AMP cables from the 400 to the 450 and the sets are on the same connection.
I have searched and the ports for the 400 don't add up.

Perhaps the migration tool would do that conversion if the HD was working.

Myself would have just bootup the 450, note the DN and ports on a spread sheet, then change the DN's accordingly.
Either way, people surely moved sets around so matching would be a challenge anyway.

My problem is I am in a different location and will pre program it and send to site for replacement.
I'm screwed. Do you hire out? I tried on your web page but email doesn't work.
Thanks

My emails work fine, I just tested them.

Your not screwed....

This below I quickly did with a spread sheet based on what they and you have said, with exception that you seem to imply you have 2 0X16's in the 450 instead of a 32 plus a 16, I guess in error.
Edit: below is not correct because I don't think something jives.

400 DN 450
241 X221 1001
242 X222 1002
243 X223 1003
244 X224 1004

253 X233 1013
254 X234 1014
255 X235 1015
256 X236 1016
257 X237 1017
258 X238 1018
259 X239 1019
260 X240 1020
261 X241 1021
262 X242 1022
263 X243 1023
264 X244 1024
265 X245 1025

282 X262 2010
283 X263 2011
284 X264 2012
285 X265 2013
286 X266 2014
287 X267 2015
288 X268 2016
289 X269 2017
290 X270 2018
291 X271 2019

293 X273 2021
294 X274 2022
295 X275 2023
296 X276 2024

Even so, once it boots up, again port status, then dial in and change the DN's if needed.
Ask them to forward port 5989 to the BCM's IP address, make sure you program that before sending it out.

Thanks that helps but the ports for the 450 at least the one I have are ports
DSM 32 Start at 1001 - 1016 then the second amp is 1101 -1116
DSM 16 is 2001 -2016.
I asked the site to go around to each phone and get the port numbers with the extension,
what is weird is on the list from the site it matches all the way to port 296 like you have
but if I only have one DSM 32 and one DSM 16 the ports should stop at 288 not 296
am I missing something?

That's exactly what I had calculated.
I wonder if they did not see an expansion cabinet on the rack that may have a 16 in it.

Aside from a backup when all programmed, best to also extract data to excel file.

Attached below is a the new spread sheet you can play with if needed.

Can I still use Tel-Set, log in to config, even if the Hard Drive has failed?

It might be worthwhile taking a look at the HDD. I've had a few occasions where the HDD had apparently failed and these were Maxtor and Seagate disks.

In both these cases, they had a circuit board underneath the disk where the IDE or SATA connections are. I discovered that the PCB had failed, rather than the disk and swapping it out with one from another disk I had of the same type got the BCM running again.

Trying to get a straight answer If we replace the bad hard Drive with a 4.0 HD, the system is a 4.0, does the MSC and the new HD talk and load the Telephony
programming? And all is needed is to build the Call Pilot if there is no back up. Or is there a Doc on this. I can't find one.
Thanks.

I dont get what your after or your wording.

If the drive has failed:
-Replace it with with another HD of the same release
-Install the exact same patches the old drive had, or the same patch names but newer versions
-Restore from a backup
-Program anything else as required

Sorry it has been years since I did my one HD replacement and trying to remember what was needed. Have no idea what patches it may of had can get same version HD.
Don't know if there is a back up either.
Thanks for your input.

The system that has a dead HD is a 400 was trying to swap out the 400 for the 450 and that is not going to work. Looking to have them install a new drive with 4.0 on it.
What sucks is this is in Iowa and I'm in DC.

Do you know of any docs telling step by step on changing out the drive and what is involved.
This would be for an IT person to follow.
Thanks

Oh and on subcontractors this is for a secure site and they would need a TS clearance.
