Hello I am a non telephony guy but have been tasked with this project. We are getting a new PRI from ATT. They have given me a "test phone number" for testing the circuit prior to porting over our phone numbers, but I cannot find where to add this in BCM V 3.6? Can anyone help?

Program the target line rec'd digits and assign target line to set. You'll need to know how many digits r being sent by the telco. You'll also need to create a route and assign pri-a to the route and assign a destination code to the route. U then need to give set access to pri-a.

You also need to configure the pri parameters on the BCM...coding, protocol, etc.

Lot's of steps. If ur not comfortable u should call your vendor.

Thanks Dasheen.

Maybe I wasn't clear. Our BCM is currently programmed and functioning properly with our current provider. We are simply changing providers. Do I still need to follow all those steps to test the new circuit?

is the "test" phone # analogue or digital? If it's an analogue # you can test it without plugging it into the system (using a butt set). If it's digital (pri) you cannot test it without disconnecting the old 1 and plugging in the new patch cord out of the pri box. They should have identified it onsite for you.

Merry Christmas.

Oh I see...you will need to pgm the rec'd digits on to a target line since you have a test number. Do u have 2 PRI cards on the BCM? in order to you'll need a spare pri card on the system and need to program the system as i stated above but put the new pri temporarily in pri-B and it's own route and destination code.

If u don't have a spare DTM on your system then u need a T-1 test set. Which your telco would have used to test the cct.

Most of the time you will make a target line and when you go to switch over the circuit and before porting you will make test calls out and in to the test number that you assigned to a phone. Then if it all works then the CO will port your lines then your good. Malke sure that they are sending the same recive digit lenth.
