I have a BCM 400 4.0 My customer uses as a backup system. New to this customer I was contacted to help with a call center issue. Someone changed something in programing no problem fixed. So since I'm new to this customer I was taken to the sever room to check out the systems. The backup system had no lights on at all and power cycle changing outlets still no lights so I get a power supply from the shop and we have lights. But I have a series of beeps and cannot find anything to help. I get 3 beeps pause 1 beep pause 1 beep pause then 2 beeps. Any one know what this is telling me. No I have not cranked up the old laptop with Hyper terminal to watch the boot up I know the series of beeps is telling me the issue but I can't seem to find in in my Docs and manuals. Thanks in advance for ur help. System just flashes never comes up.

Connect with a VGA cable a monitor to see bios alarms.
it sounds like memory issue.

The beeps are generated by the motherboard. I suspect you won't see anything on the monitor and neither if you connect to the system via the serial port. Usually, a problem like this is caused by bad memory (or improperly seated memory), a bad CPU or some other failure. Try to re-seat or replace the memory sticks... Good luck!

It sounds as if the CMOS has got corrupted and that the battery has failed. On the Motherboard there should be a pin to default the settings on a power up.

As suggested above, connect up a keyboard and monitor and mouse etc. This can be done by removing the bottom left grey cover on the front by undoing two screws to expose the connectors that exist on the front of the Motherboard.

By getting to the BIOS, you can see if the hard disk is connected and what memory has been installed.

You can even default the BIOS settings. Also take time to clean out the BCM as some of them can get very dirty. Reset everything as suggested above.
