If you want to follow the proper migration procedure, you have about 4 steps to go through. It's been a while since I've worked on one that old but I believe you have to first go to Rel 3.5, then to 3.6 or 3.7, then to 4.0. Then you can use the 400 to 450 migration procedure to update the hardware and use the data migration tool to move the configuration over. That's a brutal way to go though.
You might be better off just buying a new 450 carcass with an R6 drive. That way you can fire it up and program it from scratch using the info on your working 3.0 as a guide. Then all you have to do is go through the keycode migrations in KRS. Once that's done, just move the modules over and plug everything back in and you should be good to go.
Your choice which way to go but keep in mind that the chances of not running into problems doing all those physical migrations is slim to none, not to mention how long they will take.
I've done a couple this way (and lots the regular way) and it can take a while longer for the programming piece but the results were way more predictable than using the DMM tool.
