I have just connected a bcm400 v4 to a ericsson bp250 and the extrenal lines are on the ericsson. the problem i have is when you dial out from the bcm to a international number with more than 14 digits the call fails. the lines are set to private and the max digits to be dialed is 14 bet is there away round this.

Connected via QSIG using isdn30 cards in both

Try going into the "Public Network" Dialing Plan and check the DN length on the "011" field. Make sure that the DN length exceeds BOTH your access codes AND the international number length. Example: If you dial "9" to hit the Ericsson, and then "9" again to access the trunk to make the international call, you in reality, are dialing 15 digits. That is why the call wouldn't go thru in this example. If you dial a double digit access code, you just add to the string.

In reality, the Private DN length parameter specifies the
length of a dial string that the system uses to
determine that the call is a private network call,
when the route uses DN Type: Private.Since the system determines that this ISN'T a Private Network call, the Public Network comes into play because calls are routed as private over the private network and then flagged
as public to go out to the end node PSTN.

Try making sure the Public Network DN length is sufficient. By default, it will be "18", so if your access codes and then the 011+ number exceed 18 digits, then there is your problem.
