I'm new to the BCM world but have nearly 10 years experience with Norstar KSU's. I am trying to install a BCM 400 and I think I have the setting correct but things aren't woking out.
I have the following modules installed.
Top slot on BCM .....SM32+ Dip switch 1 is off
Next slot on BCM ....GATM4 Dip switch 4 is off

Does it matter which physical slot the modules are installed in or is it determined by dip switches?

I am trying to start the DN's at 221 and the trunks at 061.

My customer is talking about getting a PRI in the next few weeks and is there something I should do now in order to plan for the upcoming PRI?

My supplier just fired the only support tech that was well educated in BCM.

Thanks in advance for any help.

DSM 32+ setting is bus 2 - default stations are 221.

Dip switch 4 off would put you on bus 6 - which would put you on line 91. Flip both 4 and 6 off for bus 7, which will give you lines 61-64.

Slots don't matter - it's all in the dip switches.

If getting a PRI, I would put the PRI on bus 7, analog trunks on bus 6, but that's just a matter of preference. It's not wrong to do it the other way.

The switch settings for your modules should be

DSM 32+ Bus 2

off on on on on on

GATM 4 Bus 7

on on on off on off

You then need to log on to the BCM and under the resource tab -----media bay modules---- select bus 2 and set as station. Then select bus 7 set as trunk.Expand module 1 on bus 7 and set as loop.

Hope this makes sense

Thanks for the help and verifying how the switches should be set. I thought I was going to have to go back to my supplier for a new module. After checking the switches and making sure everything was set, the DSM32 was still not showing up under resources. I tried to see if a 7310 would connect to the system and it did as well as the module showed up on the system.

Are the station modules suppose to show up even when there is no equipment coonected to it?

This forum will definitely be on my favorites.
Thanks for your help.

The station modules will show up as a station module (provided you programmed that bus as a station module) but will say "unequipped" until a phone is connected to it.

If you put a station module on bus 2 on a new system, you'll see that bus 2 is configured as a trunk module. As soon as you connect a phone, it will change to station module and show enabled. This works for digital and analog station modules, but you need to define the module type for trunk cards.
