BCM 400 IP Phone Expansion Module Problems

I have a BCM 400 4.0 with the latest patches and an 1140e IP phone with the expansion module. I tried assigning the extension as CAP station and I am unable to, every time I type in the extension it disappears. I was told the only patches needed to make this work were the latest UTPS patch and Core Telephony patch....Any ideas on why this isn't working?
