Here's the deal ...

Never had any training on the BCM, but I do have Element Mgr.

Ext. 333 was not behaving well and after changing out the 7316E and the line cord the set was still misbehaving. So,
I managed to move ext. 333 from port 401 to port 412. Now the set is working but ext. 333 has an appearance on both of the ports 401 and 412. Is this a problem? If so, what do I need to do to get rid of the duplicate extention 333 on the old defective port 401? I tried to rename the ext. on port 401 to 000, and (blank) and 999 but the sys. doesn't like any of those choices.

Thanks for taking the time to read this ...

000 999 and blank arent valid, an extension number has to be there. try something that matches your extensions (399?) perhaps you have a bad switch tail.

Thanks jsaad. There was a 399 in the system and now there are two 399s. However the BCM doesn't see a conflict so I'm ok with that - and it puts the bad port far away from our DID range.

Thanks again.

If you refresh your element manager you will see you don't have duplicate ext.

It's only dialtone-VZ

Thanks for that too vztech. That'll come in handy next time I'm hacking and smashing my way thru some programming...
