In reading previous threads it says that you need to install more memory and more PECIII cards.

1. How much Memory can be added?

2. Will we have to reprogram when we add the PEC III cards?

This is a 155 phone system with 2 PRI's. Nortel states that it is a patch issue to clear the static and clipping on the phones just on their end the outside caller never hears it.
Played with the codecs and the TX thresholds that cleaned it up some but still getting pops and cracks on the calls, any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

1. Up to 512Kb

2. NO

What is a 155 phone System?

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

It is a BCM 400 configured for 160 sets sorry

Put in the extra RAM and PECS (no reprogramming required). Also ensure all the latest patches are applied.

Finally, can you describe the physical network? Are the BCM housing the sets and the BCM housing the trunks directly connected (ideal) or at lest on the same switch, and if on the same switch, what model is it?

They are not directly connected. They are however on the same cisco 2950 switch. Need them on the network for remote admin and for four digit dialing across an MPLS network to their other sites.

That's fine.

I would consider having the QoS settings checked on the 2950 as well, but first make sure that BOTH your BCMs are fully patched.

Updated all of the patches this morning. Unfortunatly customer is closed for the holiday. Nortel states I don't need to upgrade memory or PECIII's but... Have to check with their LAN people about the QOS.

Thanks

For a system that large, I would upgrade the RAM and PECs without question. These things are minimally provisioned out of the box.

Remember, there is no such thing as too much RAM.
