BCM 400 Digit Manipulation

Hi,

I have 2 sites (one is a CS1000M and the other is a BCM 400) that are interconnected via H.323 trunks, and I have abbreviated dialing set up between the sites. Problem is that there are still those that like to pick up and dial full 10 digit numbers between the sites over long distance, using up LD minutes (the sites are in 2 different parts of the country). I am trying to force people to use the H.323 by intercepting calls to the public network that match the DID range of of the other site, do some digit manipulation, and then route the call over the IP trunks. I have been able to successfully do this on the CS1000 side, but I'm struggling with it on the BCM. I have been poking around, and think I need to do something with setting up a new route, and use the External Number field to insert digits, and then set up a destination code to match the pattern for the DID range, absorb the leading digits, and route whats left. I'm not having much success.

Right now, I have it set up for people to dial 67 + a 4 digit extension number to dial from the BCM to the CS1K. 9 is set up as a destination code to route to the PSTN. I have set up a new route that points to the H.323, and I have put the 67 in the External number field. I tried to set up a destination code in the format of 91XXXYYYZA, where XXX is the area code, YYY is the NXX and Z is the first digit of the DID range. The A is the wildcard, and I will tell it which numbers to match on by using the check boxes to the right. Problem is, I keep getting an error when I try and add this destination code.

My thought is to absorb the 91XXXYYY, jam the 67 on the front, and send it on its merry way across the H.323

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks!!

No sure about setting up a destination code, but you may be able to create a restriction filter that blocks them dialing any number that matches the DID range. You can do alot with the BCM, it's just not as easy as you have seen as the CS1000.

I had a similiar situation where I had to route calls over seperate trunks groups based on the first three numbers. I had to built a crapload of dest codes. 900,901,902, 903 etc...

You're on the right track Eugene.
Destination codes can be a bit tricky.
Remove your current code of 9 and then rebuild your des codes working from longest to shortest.
For example ...
91XXXYYYZA Absorb 8 use RT 067 (H323 route dial out = 67)
91A Absorb 1 use RT 001 (normal route - No dial out)
9A Absorb 1 use RT 001

If the BCM will not allow you to build a specific des code its typicall because the digits are being used elsewhere in the dialing plan (think DN's, Access Codes, Park Code, or overlap with another des code).

HTH!
