We have a VB Application that needs to make outbound calls through a BCM 400.

Can anyone help?

The user is assigned a batch of data. They log on grab the first record available and the software automatically dials that telephone number through the modem.

The call is then dealt with by the user whi enters comments, sales information etc.

The user then clicks close call and the whole process starts again.

The main problem is that the code uses the MS Comm component to communicate with the modem through a com port.

The BCM 400 works in a completely different way and we have no experience.

We are looking for someone who has knowledge of this to help us in any way they can.

Thanks.

Why not use TAPI? As Ace mentioned, you'll need an analog station module. You'll also need the LAN CTE keycode on the BCM for each station that will use this feature. You would associate computer X with analog station Y on the BCM, under the LAN CTE configuration. When you tell computer X to dial, it will take control of the station and place the call.

I'm no programmer, but TAPI is an open standard that works with most apps. This should do what you need it to do.

Sorry,

The modems are being discarded and the way they are set up (I think) is as follows:

Each PC has two network cards. 1 for the LAN CTE license and 1 for the network.

The IP Address of the second network card is going to be ties to the LAN CTE license.

Will TAPI still work or are our customers doomed?

TAPI controls a device, whether that is an analog station port or a digital phone or an IP phone. Something has to toggle the device to tell it to dial. I don't know of any way to 'virtually' dial out through the BCM without a physical instrument.

Thanks,

I will try TAPI when it is all in place and let you know the outcome.
