We installed a BCM 400 less than six months ago and they called me the other day indicating that they are having problems entering voicemail. When I arrived, I press F981 and on the screen it reads: "Cannot Continue" and then "exit" flashes on the screen immediately, and then it goes back to the date and time on display. I re-booted the system three times and when it comes back up, I can get into the CallPilot with no issues....until about five minutes later, it starts doing the same thing again..."Cannot Continue...exit", etc.

I was having issues a couple of months ago of connecting via the LAN port(s), however, I was able to enter programming through the Tel-set programming. Now I am completely locked out.....no passwords work...not even the original ones that we set up. I am almost positive that nobody at this site would have changed any pw's, so I am wondering if the issue that is going on with the voicemail, is somehow related to the fact that no passwords work now. Has anyone ever run into this on a 400? Also, is there a way to reset pw's without contacting NOrtel? If I do need to contact nortel, does anyone know what it costs to have them reset it? Sorry for long post...thx in advance.

Hardrive is failing. Vmail and LAN connectivity are on hardrive, which is why you have problems. All telephony is on MSC card, that's why Telset works.

Password problem, don't have a witty answer.

Could also be BFT, green bad, blue good.

Adversity is Opportunity

More then likly it's the BFT and not the HD, I have had to replace 20 BFT and only 1 HD for this problem.

BFT= Base function tray. Under warrenty till 6/08 Nortel will replace for Free, but the vendor will charge for labor.

Nortel doesn't reset PWD's, you need to get a Vendor to do it.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

Mine also includes 15 BCM 1000's that needed the MB replaced because of Bad Capacitor's

My score: over 55 BFT's and 8 Hard Drives all across Canada(mainly National accounts). Funny thing is, at the end the Nortel CSR guy was recognising me without telling him my name...!
