we have installed a t1 a few months ago and now no longer use a GATM 8. I plan to remove the GATM 8 and install an ASM. My question is can I use the same dip swicth setting for the ASM that I had used on the GATM?

Sure can. If it'a an ASM 8+, you may want to change the switches for double denstity operation. Otherwise, plug-n-chug. Might need to tell the BCM that the bus is now an ASM instead of a trunk module, but it should auto detect that when you power the unit back on after changing the card.
