BCM 400 Analog Station Ports lock up

I have a BCM 400 rl 4.0 with 32 analog stations, 1 PRI and many digital stations. The analog ports are used exclusively for FAXing. This system has been installed for 3 years. Beginning in the last 6 months the analog station ports will lock up and you can neither make a call or receive a call until the port is disabled and re-enabled. Then the ports will work for another 3 weeks before they hang again. Does anyone have any thoughts on what the problem is and how to solve it?

I would check the fax machine(s) that are connect to the analog module and verify that they are actually hanging up the line. If a fax gets a back connection or handshake they don't always hang up the line for a retry causing the port to lock up.

If you find that they fax(es) are in working order I would then consider installing another analog module to see if that resolves the issue.
