The analog module worked for a very long time then just stopped.
I replaced it but still no dial tone .
I replaced BCM 400 tray still no dial tone.
All I have is side tone & the status light keeps flashing
The system doesn't seem to see the old card or new card.

What do you think????
Mikelly

Did you put the dipswitches on the same settings as the old card?

Unfortinatly yes I did.
I wish it where that simple

Could be a bad connector on the backplane. Try moving the card to a different slot but keeping the same bus #. If still no luck take one of the working cards on the system and temporarily assign it to the problem bus. If the card doesn't come up u know u have a bad bus.

By the way, you are powering down the system when adding and removing the card right?

Yes I am and thank you for that tip, I didn't think of that.

If it turns out that the Bus is bad what hardware would need to be replaced, the media services card?

One step at a time.
Do the simple things first.

If you have a spare slot in the chassis then just put your card there.

Check the 4 ribbion cables leaving the MSC card to the back connector of the 4 expansion slots.
I have had one of these not pushed in properly causing the bus to go down.

Replace the back plane for the cards first if you have an old recovered one from another BCM.

Replace the ribbon cable if you suspect it is faulty from and old recovered BCM

Last resort Change MSC card but you will need to get keycodes transfered to the new SID.

Good Luck

There was a known problem, published by Nortel, dealing with the Molex connectors that provide power to the MBM's.
There will be two of these connectors seated behind the MBM bays. The top connector powers the top slot and the one right below it. The bottom connector powers the bottom slot and the one above it. So basically, if you skipped a slot when you relocated you MBM, you may have this issue.
Nortel provided a Y cable to resolve the problem.
Check out Nortel Technical Bulletin 2008008996, Rev 1 for all the details.
