BCM 400 & vm

I have a customer with a BCM 400 3.6 s/w and 6 port call pilot. I am a Norstar tech but I am fairly new to BCM. I can get in to programing through the phone and through the laptop but I cannot access the vm through the phone, if I do a F983 it says "inactive feature" I don't have any problem with the vm and a laptop. It's just a real pain to get out the laptop to reset a mailbox. I must be doing something wrong.
Any ideas??

Cannot access voicemail thru phone on RLS 3.7 and older must be upgraded to 4.0 to access thru phone.
 
BCM 3.X software was based on Windows NT and tends to be the cause of many IP problems. I'd try and connect to it via the LAN ports 1 or 2 via the Windows browser to see if you get to the main screen. Otherwise, I would power down the system for 5 minutes and them power it back up to restore the IP connection.
