Anybody know how to force a firmware download to an old 4 x 16 MBM. I put in the latest System 12 patch & the 4 lines on the 4x16 card will not come up. The 16 sets are working fine. I tried a new card & still have same problem.
Critical alarm points to failure to download firmware to
Media Bay Module. I have opened up a ticket with Nortel but that can sometimes take forever.
I seem to remember something about the extra 8 country dipswitches that are all off by default as being a way of forcing a firmware download. Any ideas?

This will usually force a f/w download.
Disable the bus.
Change the bus type to Station.
Enable the bus.
After a few minutes ... disable the bus.
Change back to the correct type.
Enable the bus.

The DIP switches allow/disallow the module to download its country profile from the BCM.
All off tells the module to get the profile from the BCM.
Turn switch 8 on, and you're set for North America at 600 ohms.

Hope this helps!

I tried your way & had no success. Still will not force firmware download to the 4x16 card. I took the card to a BCM that I use for test purposes & forced a firmware download to the card. Is this firmware now imbedded in this
module or does it download each time from the BCM that it is seated in? I guess I will find out tomorrow.

By the way I had the pleasure of dealing with 1st level Nortel support over in India. What a joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't agree more about the Nortel support these days!
THEY SUCK!!!

Its a disgrace when you know more than the person that is supposed to provide you support!

I'm not sure that the card will hold the f/w.
But if you set the DIP switches to manually configure the country, you shouldn't have to worry about it.

4x16 card held the firmware & system is up & running again.
Should of done this in the first place but opened a case with Nortel thinking that they would help.Should have known better as their support really sucks these days.2nd
level support was telling me that the first guy could have been in Turkey not India!!!!!!!
