What is the maximum amount of VoIP destination codes can you have programmed in a BCM 400 4.0?

I have a customer that wants 60+ sites linked together using VoIP Trunking to dial each other for intercom use - of course each having a unique extension plan.

Do you plan to have a centralized SIP gateway that routes calls? We use Nortel's NRS SIP gateway. This essentially reduces the number of destination codes necessary on the BCM by programming any leading digit that is destined for another site to the SIP gateway. All it takes is one destination code entry.

unfortunately not.. we will be using Nortel's BCM H.323 VoIP Gateway licenses.

I have 60 sites connected with an Option 11C and we use a 4 digit Dest code. I'm not sure how many more you can make.

Look at this other post that had a simular question.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

Something similar but without the option 11... I have the same setup as your example in the forum post you copied and pasted for one of my other customers, but they only have 5 sites. I had 8 as my destination code to go over route 002 (VoIP Trunk), absorb 1, then they dial 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000. Simple and easy.

For this customer, they just want to dial the extension number ie 1000, 2000, 3000, etc. I am worried that the BCM will stop letting me put in destination digits. I know there is a limit in destination codes under services, but whats the limit for Gateway destination codes?

There is a limit, at least there was on 3.7. I had to put BCMs in about 25 Fire Stations. I came right up against it. I think it was around 155. But, don't hold me to it, because I believe they raised it on 4.0.

It wasn't the 25 Fire Staions, that ate up my Dest. Digits, it was they wanted to extend the 4-digit dialing citywide. Planning will be everything. You can't use "9", and you need to eleminate another lead digit to hide all you inactive DNs and HG DNs.

But if you build the dialing plan smartly in ranges allowing for some expansion, I believe you'll have enough.

yup +1 on planning... I was recommening a 6 digital dialing system... i know its long, but i know with that amount, i defintiely will not run into over laps. I wish I could use just 8 as an access code, but pretty much they just wnat to dial the intercom number... but if 155 was a limit, it should be more then enough to cover their 60 sites even with 60 destination codes programmed.

I foresee a headache lol.
