I've got a number of BCM's I'm attempting to test however when watching them boot up via the serial connection, I have a few of them that keep failing on autoCoreUpload. I've been trying to nail down exactly what is causing this. I've re-imaged hard-drives, replaced base function trays, and media services cards but not one seems to have a direct impact on this feature loading. Does anyone have any information on what causes this to fail? Thanks in advance.

If you are using new or re imaged disks, then expect the BCM to reboot a couple of times and you will find the autoCoreUpload slow to respond during the initial power up sequence.

Last week, I had the same problem after I had uploaded a customers database. It took and hour to power up before I could log in. I had to do a full rebuild from scratch as I could not trust the database backup.

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

So are you saying that rebooting the BCM a few times takes care of this issue? I imaged the HD's by using a 4 disk duplicator and taking a known working 4.0 HD and applying that image to 4 disks at once. I've gotten imaged drives to boot in a BCM I have here that works, but others are having the CoreUpload issue where it fails.

Yesterday have a issue with BCM450 REL 1
failed on feps...
Re-image no works, change HD neither, the fail was Power Supply...

What I mean to say is that you would expect the BCM400 to boot up a couple of times when using a factory day one image (no customer configured data).

The golden rule for major faulting tends to be power units or hard disks or both of them!.

You might want to check out the capacitors on the Base Function Tray (Motherboard). This was a problem on the earlier BCM 1000 models.

I think I have it nailed down to being the Media Services card. I've got 3 BCM 400s with 1 of them not booting. When I put a new MSC card in it, it booted. I then took the MSC card that was in it, installed it in one of the known working BCM's and it will not boot. I'm going to install it in another known working BCM just to verify, but so far it looks like its a bad MSC.

One bleep is what I'd expect to hear for a normal startup. It does seem as if you have found the fault to be a dodgy MSC card. The problem is that it's the MSC that has the site ID. This should be visible underneath the card towards the back end.

Yeah, the site ID wont be an issue in this case. These were given to us by Avaya to sell and are getting tested, refurbished, and sold so there is no customer info, keycodes, or programming on them. Thanks for your help with this issue, I appreciate it!
